Societe Generale takes 2nd spot in the Digital Champion rankings

Societe Generale has once again been recognised as one of the CAC 40’s top performers in advancing its digital transformation. At the 2017 edition of the eCAC40* Awards, Societe Generale was ranked second among the French top 40 companies that are managing the digital transformation challenge most effectively. It is once again the highest ranked bank, recognised for its consistent efforts in taking forward its digital transformation across all the evaluation criteria.

YUP, a new form of mobile money

YUP offers a “mobile money” service developed in Africa. With no need for a bank account, the service gives access to a complete range of banking services through a network of partners. By 2020, YUP aims to have 8,000 contact points in place in five African countries.

InnoLAB opens in Tunisia

Our Tunisian subsidiary UIB opened their own innovation lab, InnoLAB, on the 26 September, 2017. Seeking to stimulate, accelerate, explore and co-create, the InnoLab is designed to speed up innovation and open up the Tunisian digital ecosystem to the wider world. Partners, experts and startups will all be able to explore and develop solutions in artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IOT), blockchain or virtual reality.

Africa’s aviation leader acquires a new-generation Airbus

The Ethiopian company, considered Africa’s leading carrier, took possession of its fourth A350 XWB (extra-wide body) from Airbus on 28 April. The aircraft was acquired and immediately leased to Ethiopian Airlines by one of the main new players on the international leasing market, Ping An Leasing, a subsidiary of China's foremost private insurance firm Ping An Insurance Group.

Through this partnership, the two organisations are engaging to provide jointly and in a complimentary way advice, introductions and e-learning tools for French SMEs seeking to develop in African markets.
