Better understanding financial topics, gaining confidence and daring to take action: such is the ambition of Societe Generale’s new Matrimoine program.

French advertising campaign

Taking control of one’s finances means giving oneself the means to act and bring one’s projects to fruition. This conviction, embodied by the “Parlons Argent”* signature, launched in June 2026, is now entering a new phase with the Matrimoine program. This initiative aims to make financial topics more accessible and encourage women to fully take their place in wealth-related decisions.

Why talk about matrimoine?

Used until the 17th century as the feminine counterpart to the word “patrimoine”**, the term “matrimoine” disappeared from dictionaries before being brought back into the spotlight today by SG, the French Retail Bank. Women are indeed playing a growing role in wealth-related matters, due to their life expectancy and their increased place in economic life.

The obstacles women face in managing financial assets

Women express a concrete need for support. The figures*** are revealing. Three out of four women say they do not understand financial products or the associated vocabulary. Fewer than one in two women feel sufficiently competent to manage their financial assets, and more than one in three have already decided not to invest due to a lack of confidence.

In light of this finding, Societe Generale has supported women entrepreneurs and all its female clients in their projects and ambitions for many years. Today, this commitment is being strengthened with the launch of the Matrimoine program, designed to provide concrete reference points, educational content and tailored support. Its objective: to enable every woman to better understand financial mechanisms, develop the right habits and make her decisions with complete confidence.

A nationwide program

Starting in September, the Matrimoine program is being rolled out throughout France:

  • two masterclasses dedicated to women and investing, organized on September 18 at the Haussmann Central Branch on the eve of European Heritage Days and on September 20 as part of the Le Monde Festival,
  • a nationwide poster campaign running from September 16 to 22 in more than 100 cities,
  • a dedicated digital space offering a quiz to assess one’s financial knowledge and educational content,

An approach based on listening, expertise and education

More than an information program, the Matrimoine program is part of a long-term approach based on listening, expertise and education.

This initiative provides a concrete illustration of the “Parlons Argent”* promise: to make financial topics simpler and more accessible, and to enable every woman to act with confidence.
