Dialogue with stakeholders

Investment communities (Shareholders, Investors, Rating agencies), Civil society (Authorities, NGOs, Media), Customers (Individuals, Corporates, Financial institutions), Partners (Suppliers, Industry associations, Partners), Employees (Employees, Trade unions, Students)

Active engagement with stakeholders enables the Group to better understand changes in its environment and the impacts of its activities, as well as to identify and assess stakeholders’ views and interests.

Societe Generale maintains an ongoing dialogue with its key stakeholders, grouped into five main categories: the investment community, civil society, clients, partners and employees.

Appropriate channels are in place at different levels of the organization to foster transparent and constructive dialogue with each stakeholder group, both throughout the year and during specific events. Each stakeholder group has a dedicated point of contact within the Group, responsible for ensuring coordination of this dialogue.

An annual mapping of the Group’s stakeholder dialogue framework is conducted under the oversight of the Sustainable Development Department. When direct engagement is not possible – for instance with silent stakeholders such as nature – NGOs, as well as the scientific and academic communities, act as their representatives. Engagement with communities is notably ensured during the assessment of high-risk projects, in line with the Equator Principles (EP).

The Group continuously seeks to enhance its stakeholder dialogue framework, in line with expectations expressed by stakeholders, by promoting the sharing of best practices across business lines and by conducting ongoing monitoring of market practices tailored to its specific challenges.

The views and interests of stakeholders affected by sustainability issues are presented to the Group’s governance bodies and inform its strategic discussions.
