Societe Generale Philanthropy
A collective and unifying commitment to education, culture, and the environment
The Societe Generale Philanthropy program brings together the Group’s philanthropic initiatives with the goal of collectively contributing to the development of a more inclusive and sustainable society.

A philanthropy program supporting three pillars essential to society
Aligned with the Group’s CSR ambitions, Societe Generale focuses its philanthropic efforts on education, culture, and the environment—three cornerstones of societal life.
The Group builds on its long-standing commitments to classical music (since 1987), contemporary art (since 1995), and education and youth employability (since 2006). In the environmental sphere, its actions complement its broader strategy in support of the energy transition.
By supporting three essential pillars of societal life, Societe Generale contributes to shaping a more inclusive and sustainable society.
- Education, because it helps reduce economic and social inequalities by providing access to knowledge, expanding career possibilities, and fostering successful professional integration so that everyone can find their rightful place in society.
Supporting young people’s education in particular means investing in the future and helping them develop the skills needed to understand and shape the world around them. Societe Generale focuses on fundamental learning, financial education, education through sports and the arts, and professional integration. - Culture, because it is the glue that holds society together. It opens pathways to the world and our shared heritage. Supporting artistic creation, practice, and access to culture also means promoting values of excellence, sharing, openness, and creativity. The Group notably supports classical music, as well as modern and contemporary art.
- Environment, because environmental challenges are multiplying and accelerating. Societe Generale supports and amplifies initiatives that contribute to ecological transition, sustainable development, and environmental protection. The Group is committed to preserving nature—especially biodiversity and oceans—and raising awareness of these crucial issues.
Acting locally, nationally, and internationally
Wherever the Group operates, its ambition is to help partners in these domains grow their projects and amplify their positive impact on society.
In the event of emergencies linked to exceptional situations (humanitarian crises, health emergencies, natural disasters, etc.), the Group can also support needs identified by public-interest organizations in regions where it operates.
The Group’s philanthropic actions are carried out at local, national, and international levels. The Societe Generale Corporate Foundation acts on behalf of the Group in France, with a strong presence across territories, and also supports international projects. It operates under a five-year mandate with a multi-year action program of €55 million for 2024–2028.
Additionally, entities that wish to do so can conduct local philanthropic initiatives directly or through structures such as foundations, as is notably the case in the United Kingdom, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Ivory Coast.
To further amplify its impact, the Group also enables employees to engage in initiatives serving the public interest. Skills-based volunteering is being progressively rolled out across the Group, giving employees the opportunity to dedicate at least one day per year—during working hours—to social and/or environmental actions, in accordance with local labor laws.
Embodied by both the Group’s heritage and its forward-looking ambition, Societe Generale Philanthropy reflects the Group’s commitment to actively and sustainably contributing to the development of the world around it, and to putting the entrepreneurial spirit that has driven it for more than 160 years at the service of those working to tackle today’s major challenges.
