Move for the Oceans: a collective drive for the planet

After four editions focused on education, the solidarity sports challenge Move for Youth has evolved to become Move for the Oceans. This change in direction echoes the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC-3) held in Nice last June and reflects the Group’s and its Foundation’s growing commitment to environmental protection.
A successful solidarity challenge
In October, 15% of our member of staff worldwide – nearly 16,000 people across 62 countries – took up the challenge, forming more than 3,500 teams united around a common cause: the preservation of oceans, rivers, and biodiversity. Thanks to their involvement, over 9,000 solidarity actions were carried out, enabling donations of €200,000 to 11 partner associations* working to tackle marine pollution, raise awareness, protect marine biodiversity, and support innovative research worldwide.
Move for the Oceans concretely illustrates the values of solidarity, responsibility, and commitment upheld by Societe Generale. This challenge demonstrates employees’ ability to mobilise collectively for causes of general interest and to bring the Group’s philanthropic commitments to life through meaningful and tangible actions.
