Interview with Grégory Xavier Allard, CEO of Trenois Decamps, recorded at the TOP Afep 2026, the leading one to one event for business leaders driving growth.

Trenois Decamps has been a family-run business for five generations, operating in the hardware wholesale market. Through 70 branches and nearly 1,000 employees, the company supports tradespeople in the construction industry, particularly in renovation.

SG has been a long-standing partner of the company. It is a long story that began almost 100 years ago. They have been by our side through the various types of financing related to the company’s generational transition, as when a business is transferred from one generation to the next, funding is required for this handover.

SG has also supported us in our development projects, particularly in the context of external growth buyouts or within the framework of financing structural, logistics or digital projects. The company has substantial resources to continue its development. We are setting up a new business called Tredelec, which is set to grow in the coming years.

How has Trenois Decamps reconciled growth and family succession over the generations?

Successfully passed down through five generations, Trenois Decamps accelerated its development from the 1990s onwards by combining entrepreneurial heritage with a strong capacity for adaptation.

Key milestones include:

  • the relocation of the historic store to a business park, supporting the company’s expansion and better meeting the needs of building professionals;
  • the gradual roll out of its branch based model, initiated in Dunkirk.

Its growth strategy is built on:

  • organic growth,
  • targeted external growth operations,
  • organizational structuring through the implementation of a centralized and industrialized logistics platform, as well as the development of an e commerce website

How has SG supported Trenois Decamps for nearly a century?

As a banking partner for almost 100 years, SG CREDIT DU NORD has supported Trenois Decamps during the key phases of its development, including:

  • financing associated with generational transfers,
  • support for development projects and external growth,
  • backing for major logistics and digital initiatives

This long standing relationship with the Regional Corporate Banking Center is built on trust and the expertise of the teams:
"SG has high quality teams who are committed to supporting their clients over the long term, with proven expertise and strong technical know how for our projects,"
emphasizes Grégory Xavier Allard, CEO of Trenois Decamps.

How is the new generation driving Trenois Decamps’ continued growth?

Now co managed by two brothers, Trenois Decamps is continuing to pursue its development and consolidation strategy around several key priorities:

  • strengthening its core business in France,
  • exploring international expansion opportunities,
  • developing ancillary activities, notably through Tredelec, which specializes in the distribution of electrical equipment.

The Trenois Decamps testimonial illustrates SG’s ability to support companies’ long term growth by backing their transformation, development and succession projects.
