The official winners of Panafrican Tam-Tam hackathon!

The two teams InvestED and Yup Prévoyance won the Panafrican and virtual Tam-Tam hackathon on Thursday 12 July. The objective of this competition was to find solutions that meet the needs of unbanked and/or underbanked people around financial education and health.

The two-award winning teams will fly to South Africa for a learning expedition of one week. The winners from external startups, InvestED, will be given the possibility to spend a month doing an excubation in South African while the second team Yup Prevoyance will fly to Kenya for one month. Finally, a one-month-long incubation programme will be established in the respective subsidiaries of each of the teams to co-construct projects together and their deployment in corresponding entities: Senegal and Morocco. The winners were awarded the prize by Frédéric Oudéa, CEO of Societe Generale.

The six finalist teams, composed of intern employees and external startups, carried high the colors of their respective countries: Morocco, Chad, Cameroon, Senegal, Congo, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea and Algeria. All teams have benefited from the support and the help of the Innovation lab in Dakar.



"Tam-Tam", an African virtual hackathon

Seeking solutions for people with no or limited access to banking services, "Tam-Tam" was the second hackathon on the African continent. Officially launched the 16 April 2018, it is part of the continuity of the project initiated in December "L'Arbre à Palabres", during which 14 innovative startups from all over Africa worked together to design, prototype, and test unique solutions that meet the needs of informal actors, also invited.
