The Dollar conundrum
When it comes to financial market sell-offs, the US dollar can usually be counted on to act as a safe haven and gain in strength. And this is true even when the catalyst resides within the US borders. As global equity markets suffered one of their worst days in over half a decade on Monday 5 February, the US dollar gained 0.5% against other major currencies, as measured on the US Dollar Index (DXY).

Technological advances in the trade finance sector are accelerating rapidly, notably with Blockchain technology in particular. Societe Generale is at the forefront of this trend, working on numerous projects such as We.Trade or Easy Trading Connect, developed together with its European partners. Internal Startup Call
Societe Generale has launched a major intrapreneurship programme known as Internal Startup Call. Open to all Societe Generale Group employees worldwide, starting this week, the Internal Startup Call is designed to give everyone the resources they need to invent new disruptive activities that offer strong potential for the Group. February 16th, was held 144 teams, from a number of different countries and entities, defended their projects in front of the members of the Group's Management Committee. This event took place at "Le Plateau" innovation space at The Dunes complex to the east of Paris.
A wind of change blows through Egypt
Expected to be completed at the end of 2019, the Ras Ghareb wind project will have 125 Siemens-Gamesa wind turbines installed on the Gulf of Suez in eastern Egypt. With a total capacity of 250 megawatts, it is the largest wind farm to be launched in the country to date, bringing strong economic and environmental benefits over the long term.
