As part of the Group's digital transformation and thanks to its open innovation procedure, employees are increasingly developing innovative ideas, in a context of co-creation and in startup mode. In July 2017 during TechWeek, the Bank put the spotlight on its 6 technological innovation hubs, based around the topics of Cybersecurity, Big Data & Artificial intelligence, Cloud, Emerging Tech, Digital Workplace and Digital Process.

Group Innovation Awards: the winners

As is does every year, Societe Generale is rewarding its staff members’ innovations. During the ceremony that took place on 2 October at the start-up Plateau in the Dunes, 5 awards were presented by Group CEO Frédéric Oudéa and his Deputy CEOs. The Group Innovation Grand Prix award has gone to YUP, Mobile Money Solution and Moonshot-Internet, AssurTech for e-commerce. The winner of the Public award is Crédit du Nord and its voice biometrics technology. The Staff award has gone to Private Banking’s Robo-Advisor. Last but not least, the Special CSR award has been given to the Contactless donations screen
for our partner charity associations.

FinHACK, a 36-hour FinTech hackathon in Hong Kong

To help promote innovation and the development of Hong Kong’s FinTech ecosystem, Societe Generale and WHub Ltd jointly launched a hackathon on 7-9 July, 2017 at Campfire Creative, a co-working space at Wong Chuk Hang in Hong Kong. The aim was to design and develop innovative solutions addressing business challenges in four main areas: Blockchain / Artificial Intelligence and ChatBots / Big Data / RegTech, InsureTech and WealthTech. Students, entrepreneurs, coders and developers worked together to invent and develop new ideas.

The Dunes technology hub, located at Fontenay-sous-Bois, is an illustration of the digital adventure Société Générale and its employees have embarked on in recent years. This innovative site, which welcomed its first occupants in September 2016, is where most of the Bank’s IT functions are hosted.
