This was the title of the 8th Convergences World Forum, which ran from the 7-9 September 2015 in Paris. Conscious of the climate change issues facing our planet, the Group participated to the forum and aims to become a key player in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Each year, the forum brings together the public and private sectors to co-construct responses to social and environmental challenges. This year, the event took place in a particularly active context with, notably, the COP21* conference taking place in Paris at the end of the year.

Given its recognised expertise in energy financing, ethical finance, microfinance as well as its international banking network, Societe Generale represented the private sector finance sector at two round table panel discussions: "Essential synergies between development and climate funding", with Séverin Cabannes, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Group, and "Microfinance and technology: the impact of digital innovation on the sector", with Gaëtan Debuchy, Chief Executive Officer of Societe Generale's subsidiary SAIF MANKO in Senegal.

* COP21: 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change taking place in Paris the 30 November to the 11 December 2015.

Our commitment to reducing our energy consumption is an everyday occupation. There is no conflict between our strategic objectives and our environmental ones. Not only is there no conflict, but our environmental awareness can actually drive us to achieve our objectives more quickly.

Séverin Cabannes , Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Group
