The retail banking network in France has mandated companies from the designated disability sector to handle their post in a collective initiative involving teams from across the Group.
Societe Generale has confirmed its social commitment by entrusting the distribution of internal mail in the branch network to companies from the designated disability sector. This move, which is innovative in terms of its national coverage, is the result of close cooperation between Mission Handicap, the teams in the Sourcing division and from Retail banking in France and ALD Automotive France.
Significant social scope
According to Thomas GRAVIS, Head of the Functional department of the Group Sourcing division, “the teams were very keen on the social aspect of this project. These contracts have helped businesses in the designated disability sector take on around sixty disabled candidates, many of whom were previously unemployed.” This initiative is therefore a worthy complement to Societe Generale’s existing commitment to the direct recruitment of disabled people.
A collective process
“Mission Handicap, the Sourcing division and the Retail bank in France joined forces to convince the decision-makers at local level of the merits of this initiative, and were pleased with the positive feedback”, says the Head of Mission Handicap Société Générale. “The project required a specific focus, as the changeover required a lot of precautions. For example, visits to the various premises gave us a chance to examine accessibility and equipment on site, as well checking the feasibility of the tasks expected from the employees from the designated disability sector.”
An eagerly awaited rollout
The framework contracts were signed in the last quarter of 2010. All the sites involved signed a call-off contract with the referenced designated disability sector company for an official rollout in January 2011.
