The future is you, all of you

At Societe Generale, designing a work environment for all involves concrete commitments

Societe Generale is convinced of the need to support LGBT+ people in the professional world, and to let them be heard. Therefore, the Group is partnering with L'Autre Cercle for the 4th edition of the LGBT+ Role Model ceremony.

With 1 out of 2 LGBT+ people still not visible in their organization – according to the LGBT+ Barometer 2022 of L'Autre Cercle carried out with the French Institute of Public Opinion (IFOP) – we unfortunately still need to lead that type of action.

Let’s take a closer look at the LGBT+ Role Models and Allies ceremony, which has become a "must-attend" for professionals working on diversity and the inclusion of LGBT+ people in the workplace.

Since its creation, the main objective of the LGBT+ Role Models and Allies ceremony has been to reaffirm the need for visibility of influential LGBT+ actors in the professional world. How? By valuing those who are truly committed to the inclusion of LGBT+ people in their workplace in France. The concept of Role Model is a perfect fit for this approach.

And who better than an LGBT+ person, whose professional success, life path, values or social role are considered a model, can support the cause of LGBT+ people?

Last night, among the 5 categories awarded, 3 Societe Generale employees stood out during the ceremony:

  • Alexandre Maymat, LGBT+ Executive Role Model category;
  • Élise Reese, non Executive Role Model Allies category (new in 2022);
  • Tonie Machado, LGBT+ Leaders Role Model category.

Their nomination honors their commitment as well as their aspiration to "drive things forward", with the actions they have already taken for the inclusion of LGBT+ people and the ones they will continue to take as Role Models in society.

These appointments are in line with Societe Generale's on-going fight against discrimination. After the signature of the LGBT+ Commitment Charter of L'Autre Cercle and the launch of the LinkedIn Societe Generale Pride & Allies group, it is another step towards the inclusion of all talents as a responsible employer.

What is the meaning of LGBT+?

The acronym stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender. By convention, L'Autre Cercle uses the term “LGBT+” to refer to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and all people who do not identify as heterosexual or cisgender. This convention brings simplicity and inclusion to all diversities of sexual orientation and gender identity.
