Paris-London… by bike

By Vetcherkovskaya Yana | Writer / Editor | 18/06/10

386 kilometers, three days, 88 participants. Detours, falls, rain, two countries, one ferry, punctures, climbs, relays. Lots of laughter, struggles, life, desire, a bicycle, bottles of water, sharing, sunscreen, mutual assistance, mixed generations, nervousness, pride. And a single goal: pedalling to fund an educational project in Morocco (and of course to enjoy the wonderful experience of this kind of trip).

As a part of Citizen Commitment Week, 88 Societe Generale cyclists left Paris on 10 June for an incredible challenge: reaching in London in three days to benefit Care, an NGO which has been a partner of the Societe Generale Foundation for Solidarity since 2008.

Each participant undertook to raise at least 650 euros from their family, friends and co-workers to support an educational programme which aims to prevent the lack of education and to improve educational conditions for children in rural areas in the outskirts of Casablanca.

Etienne Glémas from the Communications Department reported back on his impressions of each step of the challenge.
