Mobiasbanca gave the Moldovan National Rugby Federation 25 thousand euros, which was used to buy sports equipment for all the rugby teams in Moldova, including the juniors.

In return, the bank’s emblem appears on all the team shirts, reinforcing Mobiasbanca’s presence at matches. Through this partnership, Mobiasbanca’s aim is to help develop and promote rugby in Moldova.

This initiative continues our tradition of sponsoring rugby teams in countries where it is present.

In October 2008, Mobiasbanca became a principal member of MasterCard and launched a new banking card offer. The design of the new cards is based on activities supported by our Group and Mobiasbanca, such as rugby and classical music, and which reflect the same core values of professionalism, innovation and team spirit. The Cirrus/Maestro card is illustrated with the picture of a rugby player. Cirrus/Maestro cards are sold as regular debit cards in MDL – national currency and are the main product used for salaries projects with legal entities. In October, the Rugby Federation began to receive salaries and all payments through MBSG banking cards.

On November 16, 2008, Mr. Jean-Francois Myard - the President of the bank, awarded each Rugby player with a Maestro salary card. This event took place at an original moment - just after a European and World Championship selection match between the National Federation of Moldova and Belgium, which Moldovan won 20-8. Mr. Myard received a personalised shirt with his name on the back, along with a rugby ball signed by all the team. It is hoped that the good results of the national team will increase the popularity of rugby in the country, boosted by MBSG’s support!
