Société Générale used a meeting with the press in Aix-en-Provence on 30 June 2009 to express its support of the Unis-Cité association that helps young people with professional insertion.

On 30 June, Frédéric Oudéa was at the Aix Mirabeau branch to visit the employees there, accompanied by branch manager Anne-Sophie Condemine. Afterwards, there was a meeting with the press in the branch along with the regional delegate Jean-Louis Patenotte, the head of the AIX ‘DEC’ Guy Bernasse, the head of Unis-Cité Méditerranée Pascal Isoard-Thomas, and the heads of two client companies who spoke of the support they had received from Société Générale in their development. Journalists from both the local and national press were also present.

The association Unis-Cité

During the press meeting, Frédéric Oudéa presented a cheque to the association Unis-Cité, which has been one of the partners of the Société Générale Foundation since 2007. The association, which was created in 2001, organises voluntary civil service with the help of the public authorities. It puts young people aged between 18 and 25 in teams to work on a 6-9 month service projects for the local authorities. The volunteers are involved in many types of scheme (site work, presentations, initiatives to raise awareness, etc.) in various fields such as fighting exclusion, promoting sustainable development and access to culture. The association helps the young people involved to prepare a professional project via training courses that will boost their future chances of professional insertion.

Société Générale’s support of this association will help finance an operation to raise awareness about littering and waste in Marseille.
